When Ramesh Sippy was going to make Sholay, he was short of budget. When his father went to GP Sippy, he decided to invest money in the film. Then that film was made for about Rs 3 crores. If this budget is calculated according to today’s inflation rate, then its price reaches hundreds of crores. At that time Sholay had earned around Rs 35 crores. That means this film, which earned 12 times the total budget, is still one of the highest grossing films in Bollywood.
